Liz Fisher is Chief Talent Officer at the Jewish Federations of North America, where she directs the work of the Mandel Center for Leadership Excellence in leadership pipeline development, recruitment, professional development, and human resources support and analysis. Prior to coming to JFNA, she was CEO of Amplifier, which she led through a successful merger into JFNA and then served as Executive Director of Amplifier and Senior Advisor of Philanthropy at JFNA. Serving as JFNA’s inaugural Chief Talent Officer is her dream job, combining a lifelong love of organizational development, culture, and talent with the ability to impact the system that launched her career in the Jewish communal sector.
Liz previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Repair the World, where she led the organization’s growth, strategy, operations, development, and communications and Managing Director at NEXT: A Division of Birthright Israel Foundation, developing and launching a strategy to train and support professionals across North America in young adult engagement. Following work in grassroots community development, Liz launched her career in the Jewish world in the Federation system, first in planning and allocations at the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, and then at UJA-Federation of New York, where she held FRD leadership roles, first with Emerging Leaders and Philanthropists and then in Planned Giving and Endowments. Liz has an MSW from Washington University in St. Louis in Community Development with a concentration in management and a BA from Mills College. She sits on the Advisory Board of Philanthropy Together and is a Schusterman Senior Fellow. Liz grew up in New Hampshire and she and her family now live in Brooklyn, New York.
